Fabric QR Web App

Shares fabric details — images, GSM, type, references — over QR codes, killing a repetitive workflow and its errors.

Situation

Every time anyone asked about a fabric, someone photographed it, typed out the GSM, type and references, and sent it on WhatsApp. Same fabric, same details, again for every person who asked — and a typo travelled exactly as far as the photo did.

Task

  • Kill the repetition: capture a fabric once, share it any number of times.
  • Make the spec travel with the photo so nothing gets retyped.

Result

Photograph the fabric, get a QR, share the QR. Five minutes of photographing and retyping became thirty seconds.

My Contribution

  • Traced the cost to repetition rather than effort. The task was never hard — it was done again from scratch for every person who asked, which is why nobody had flagged it as a problem.
  • Made the QR the deliverable instead of the message. One code carries the image, GSM, type and references, so the spec stops being retyped and stops drifting between people.
  • Fixed the workflow where it already lived. People were going to keep working over WhatsApp, so the output had to be one shareable thing — not another system to log into.
